Twenty Years of Publishing, (1982-2002)
with the Portsmouth Marine Society

In 1982, Joseph G. Sawtelle and Peter E. Randall gathered a group of local historians, researchers, and writers together and began the non-profit publishing house known as the Portsmouth Marine Society. The goal was to publish history connected to the Piscataqua River basin, in order to educate readers and preserve the region's heritage.

Since then, twenty-seven titles have been published in cloth-bound volumes. To mark the anniversary of the first year of publication, the Portsmouth Marine Society has printed paperback editions of five titles, which have previously been out of print!

The new paperback editions are available currently. These include:

• John Haley Bellamy: Carver of Eagles;
• The Piscataqua Gundalow: Workhorse for a Tidal Basin;
• There Are No Victors Here: A Local Perspective on the Treaty of Portsmouth;
• John Paul Jones and the Ranger; and
• Gosport Remembered: The Last Village at the Isles of Shoals.
